Saudades, Brasil
Saudades, Brasil began as a personal homage to the country where I was born and raised. Rooted in the uniquely untranslatable feeling of saudade, this project evolved into a heartfelt exploration of Brazilian identity through the lens of childhood memory, cultural connection, and distance. It reflects on what it means to miss a place so deeply woven into who you are.
At its core, the project represents the Brazilian aesthetic as seen through the eyes of children who have grown up in Brazil but now live abroad. It brings together reflections on language, culture, and place, creating a space where personal nostalgia intersects with collective memory. It's a tribute to the colors, sounds, emotions, and everyday beauty of Brazil as remembered by those who carry it in their hearts, no matter where they are.
The heart of the project is a 124-page book that visually and narratively introduces Brazil in all its richness—its landscapes, street life, music, textures, and emotional depth. It also features stories and contributions from Brazilian kids living abroad, sharing their personal experiences with saudade and what home means to them now.
